Challenge

Lusitania Seguros needed to evolve its data architecture to address increasing business demands for agility, scalability, availability, and advanced analytics. The existing legacy‑based environment limited the company’s ability to:

  • Accelerate Artificial Intelligence and advanced analytics initiatives;
  • Ensure fast, consistent, data‑driven decision-making;
  • Strengthen governance, control, and traceability of data;
  • Improve operational efficiency and standardization across teams and partners;
  • Achieve transparent and predictable cost management in data operations.
Operating in a heavily regulated sector, also required a modern architecture that would support compliance, resilience, and future innovation.

Solution

Link designed and delivered a strategic modernization program built on Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview, supported by Link’s proprietary architectural and analytics frameworks. Key elements of the solution:

  1. Implementation of a Lakehouse Architecture A Medallion-based model combining flexibility, performance, and reliability, creating a robust foundation for AI and analytics initiatives
  2. Data Governance and Compliance with Microsoft Purview Ensuring full visibility over data assets, end‑to‑end lineage, compliance with regulatory requirements, and secure management of sensitive information.
  3. Adoption of Link’s Proprietary Frameworks Standardized methodologies promoting interoperability, consistency, and best practices across internal teams and external partners.
  4. Delivery of a Minimum Viable Product Establishing the initial Microsoft Fabric and Purview environments and implementing Lusitania’s first operational lakehouse.
  5. Progressive Migration of the Legacy Data Warehouse An ongoing initiative ensuring a secure transition to the new platform while maintaining continuity of business‑critical operations

The modernization of the data architecture is a critical step to enable advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence in a secure, scalable, and sustainable way.
